The Ogle County Sheriff’s Office joined forces with more than 200 other state and local law enforcement agencies to get drunk and drugged drivers off our roads, encourage seat belt use, and enforce speeding and other traffic laws. 2 citations for Illegal Transportation of Alcohol.37 citations for Registration Violations.27 arrests for Suspended/Revoked/No Valid DL.2 arrests for Fleeing to Elude a Police Officer.4 arrests for Misdemeanor Cannabis Offenses.The 195 citations were for various offenses, including: Ogle County Sheriff Deputies made 5 impaired driving arrests and issued 195 total citations during the recent Independence Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High Get a DUI” and “Click It or Ticket” safety campaigns which ran from June 16th to July 5th, 2023. Ogle County Sheriff Releases Independence Day Enforcement Numbers Upon being discharged from the hospital, Soria was taken into custody on the warrant by Ogle County Deputies without incident and transported to the Ogle County Jail. Soria was charged with 4 counts of Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer (Class 2 Felony), 2 counts of Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer Causing Great Bodily Harm (Class 1 Felony), Criminal Trespass to a Residence (Class 4 Felony) and Domestic Battery (Class A Misdemeanor). Two Deputies also went to KSB Hospital for treatment of injuries. Soria was eventually subdued and taken to KSB Hospital by Polo Ambulance for treatment of minor injuries. Soria then attacked several Deputies and subsequently resisted arrest. Soria, age 46, of Dixon that he needed to leave the residence or be arrested for trespassing. Upon arrival, they attempted to convince Jamin M. Galena Trail Road in rural Polo for the report of an unwanted subject. On 07/22/23 at approximately 11:23am, Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 2667 S. Deputies were assisted on the scene by Byron Fire/EMS as well as the Byron Police Department. The incident is still under investigation, and additional charges are pending. Ellenby was released on an I-Bond with a future court date. Ellenby was additionally cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Improper Lane Usage, Registration Expiration, and Operate Uninsured Motor Vehicle. Additionally, Ellenby was charged with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol. Ellenby was transported to Swedish American Hospital with serious injuries. IL RTE 72 before ejecting the driver and coming to a rest in the roadway. The motorcycle then struck a guardrail on the north side of E. Ellenby, age 27, of Byron, IL, was attempting to negotiate the curve when he lost control and exited the north side of the roadway. After a brief investigation, it was determined that a westbound motorcycle operated by Jacob R. for a single-vehicle motorcycle crash with injuries. On at 0119 hours, deputies were dispatched to the intersection of E. The incident remains under investigation. James Bennett was issued a citation for failure to stop at a stop sign and will appear in court at a later date.ĭeputies were assisted at the scene by the Illinois State Police, the Ogle County Coroner’s Office, the REACT helicopter, and IDOT. The driver of the 2015 Buick, whose name is being withheld at this time pending notification of relatives, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Holland, age 74 of Oregon, was uninjured in the crash. Bennett, age 39 of Neponset (IL), was transported to the Rochelle Hospital where he reported minor injuries. The 2010 Kenworth pushed the 2015 Buick into the eastbound lane on the west side of the intersection where the Buick then struck a 2011 Ford Escape that was eastbound approaching the stop sign for the intersection. Preliminary investigation at the scene by Sheriff’s Deputies determined that a 2015 Buick Lacrosse was crossing the intersection traveling southbound when it was struck by a 2010 Kenworth Semi Tractor and Trailer that had been traveling westbound and failed to stop for the stop sign at the 4 way stop intersection. On 8/11/23 at 1011 hrs, Ogle County Sheriff’s Deputies along with the Rochelle Fire Department, Hillcrest Fire Department and the Lynn-Scott-Rock Fire Department responded to the scene of a three vehicle accident with serious injuries that occurred at the intersection of Rte 251 and Rte 64.
